Empower an ISA95 related UNS with Crosser

When building an ISA-95–aligned UNS, a well-designed topic structure is essential for scalability and clarity. Whether data originates from a flat OPC UA namespace, S7 PLC data blocks, or low-level protocols such as Modbus, Crosser provides a straightforward way to ensure each data tag is placed correctly. To support this, metadata—such as MQTT topics—can be added to tag lists (resource files), which are then referenced in module configurations to define what data to read, poll, or subscribe to. This metadata is included in the published message and can be used to dynamically generate a unified, single source of truth for the UNS topic hierarchy.

Crosser Tech Tip 101

As a result, the data will be published to the according topic, ie. US/Dallas/chromatography/CHR01/valves/V003/PV.

Tip: Relevant meta-data like topic, unit, type and more can also be queried from external systems, stored in the Key/Value store and then mapped into the data flow.
